Greenstone Group was appointed project manager for the development of the recently developed, and award-winning New Zealand Management Academy campus.
The purpose-built structure involved the conversion of an industrial warehouse into a state of the art tertiary education and training facility in Mt. Wellington. It serves as home to NZMA’s renowned cookery school, as well as delivering hospitality and business training.
To ensure the project’s success, Greenstone Group implemented an innovative design strategy to transform the existing space into a comfortable, functional and visually stunning learning and social environment.
Combining two existing campuses in Panmure and Auckland City with this project has proved very successful. Efficiency has improved, with the first intake showing increased enrolments due to the newly increased capacity. To enable this, Greenstone Group worked to provide the ideal fit-out, specifically designed to suit the school’s needs and maximising the use of space and resources.
The capacity increase and the modern learning environment has made an immediate and significant impact to stakeholder perceptions, growth, and quality of teaching. Fully equipped with the latest facilities, the new NZMA has commercial kitchens, barista stations, a student-run cafe, restaurant and bar training areas and upgraded staff facilities. Computer classrooms and a large, high-end cyber suite are also included for business students.
Implementing a strategy with foresight, Greenstone Group ensured the option for future expansion existed within the design. Areas on the ground floor and level one have been identified as possible areas for expansion, to ensure this building remains at a Greenstone Group standard of quality.
The success of this project is reflected in the Excellence award received by NZMA in the Coffey Education and Arts Property category at the PCNZ Awards 2014.
