Due to rapid population growth in the greater Auckland region, Greenstone Group has been contracted by the Ministry of Education to strategically plan and manage the accelerated delivery of classrooms across Auckland primary schools.
These new classrooms, created to accommodate roll growth, are to be located across 11 campuses as the second and third batches of new classrooms. On appointment, the first task of Greenstone Group was to identify the brief in keeping with the Ministry of Education’s Asset Management goals. This often meant identifying a redevelopment necessity greater than originally thought. Greenstone Group was involved in the masterplanning of most of the sites, which involved both traditional architectural masterplanning as well as a review of the infrastructure involved.
Because of the complex nature of this project and the many stakeholders involved, Greenstone Group regularly engaged with all involved parties to develop a project delivery methodology suitable for everyone. This included liaising with school staff, boards of trustees, special education groups, community groups and pupils to ensure the end result is a modern and innovative learning environment.
To date Greenstone Group has provided a number of services for this project, including the procurement of a design team, client liaison and interface, masterplanning and design management, and specialised project management. Significant value has been added to the project by Greenstone Group identifying areas of some sites that required rationalisation to facilitate the growth of the school.
